These organizations often focus their deployments on the CXO-level executives, sales personnel, or on employees in particular lines of business. Application functionality used is focused on email, calendar, and PIM functionality. Future smartphone deployment initiatives will be conservative and may be driven by competitor activities, as these companies are considered to be “followers” when it comes to implementing new mobile technology initiatives.Organizations in the Proactive Deployment Stage are deploying BlackBerry smartphones on a broader scale throughout their organization. The company enables a wider range of employees to use BlackBerry smartphones including not only CXO’s, managers, and sales professionals, but also individuals in the IT and customer service organizations. These companies are using a broader range of mobile applications to include not only calendaring and PIM, but also field service and IT mobile applications. These mobile applications and solutions are likely to be deployed using multiple mobile smartphones and platforms in order to address the requirements of various business units in the organization.Companies in the Integrative Deployment Stage are at the forefront of mobility application deployment. They view BlackBerry smartphones and the associated mobile applications and solutions as key strategic initiatives in their organization, and they are proactively developing an overarching, corporate mobility strategy that uses one or two mobile platforms to support their mobile application requirements. Mobile applications implemented by this organization go well beyond email and PIM, to include applications that address many different organizational business units. BlackBerry smartphones and other types of mobile smartphones are far reaching, having been deployed to a broad range of employees from executive assistants to IT personnel and customer service agents, as well as to the CXO, field service, and sales teams.
