1. Act 1
-Macbeth and Banquo win a battle against the Norwegians and were
heading back to the castle. On their way, they encountered three witches
-the witches predict the future saying that Macbeth will become thane
and then king of Scotland! Banquo asks to have his future foretold as
well. The witches say that his son will become royalty. the witches then
vanish.
-soon after, a message from the King is delivered to Macbeth and
Banquo by Angus and Ross that Macbeth has been titled Thane of
Cawdor
2. -macbeth sends a letter to his wife Lady
Macbeth telling her the good news. He
also her how it was also predicted that he was going to be king.
tells
-the only thing now standing between Macbeth and the throne is the
King Duncan.
-The king was expected to come spend the night at the
Macbeth household.
3. -lady macbeth comes up with the
idea that they should kill the king in
his sleep and frame it on the
servants. All that they need is a
dagger, some alcohol and the will
to kill.
4. Act 2
-The newly drunk and passed out guards allow part 2
of the plan take action.
-before entering Duncan’s chamber, Macbeth starts
hallucinating and sees a dagger floating before him.
5. Macbeth kills the king with the daggers and Lady Macbeth
makes it look like the guards were the ones who did the deed
by wiping blood on them.
-In the morning, MacDuff enters the chamber to find a dead
body alongside two bloody guards
-everybody in the house is called to the chamber. Macbeth
puts on a show and pretends to feel sorrow. He then kills the
two guards.
6. -Later on, both of Duncan’s sons run
away so that they wouldn’t be
suspected for murder but this
backfired. Everybody now thinks that
the sons were responsible for their
fathers death.
7. Act 3
-Macbeth begins putting more thought into the
situation and what the witches told him. He now
sees Banquo and his son as a threat to his power in
royalty. He decides it would be best if he had them
both killed.
-Macbeth hires 2 men to murder Banquo and he son
Fleance before the dinner is held, while they are out.
-the murderers succeed in killing Banquo, but fail to
kill his son for he has escaped.
8. -the death has been blamed on Fleance because he ran away
-While Macbeth was supposed to entertain his guests for the dinner, he
sees Banquo’s bloody ghost sitting in the empty chair. Macbeth freaks
out and begins to talk to the ghost. The guests believe that Macbeth has
gone terribly ill, but Lady reassures the guests that this is his normal
behavior.
-Macbeth does not stop the madness even after Lady has told him to
calm down.
9. -Lady Macbeth tells the guests to leave.
-the scene then changes location back to the witches. Hecate
is angry with what the three witches have prophesied for
Macbeth.
-Hecate then states that she will bring misery to Macbeth
and fool him with illusions. He will be fooled into thinking
he is the greatest man on earth.
