Font color selection : Preferably work with fonts of darker shades on light background & vice versa. Step 4. Anti-glare screen : Attach an anti-glare screen in front of the monitor which will decrease the amount of light reflected from the screen. Step 5. Document holder : Use a screen mounted document holder, positioned between keyboard & monitor screen almost at the same distance & height as that of the monitor.
7. Step 6. Light effect : Use suspended lights from ceiling & windows with shades, blinds or curtains. Avoid light hitting directly on eyes. Step 7. Sitting posture : Use chairs with armrests which are able to provide, support while typing, position of head slightly titled downwards & height of the chair adjusted appropriately so that the feet rest flat on floor. Step 8. A.C. distance : Avoid sitting at a location with direct blow of air on eyes from a blower or an A.C. or for a long period in a room with low humidity. 18. Refractive Errors How do we see the world? - In the Normal Eye, the rays of light get focused on retina to produce sharp and clear picture. Myopia -Here the length of the eyeball is more than normal i.e why image is formed in front of retina . -Myopes can see near objects clearly but not distant objects Hyperopia- Here the image falls behind the retina as the eyeball is shorter than normal Near objects become difficult to see compared to distance Astigmatism- Here the cornea is oblong instead of Spherical It is result of uneven curvatures of the cornea Resulting in blurring of image at any distance Treatment options available: one can choose Spectacles or can use contact lenses or the most effective treatment choose by patients across the world is LASIK – laser Vision Correction
24. Glaucoma In the Normal Eye, light rays pass through Cornea, Pupil, Lens and fall on the Retina That’s how we see the world clearly What happens in Glaucoma? Inside of the eye contains fluid that is constantly flowing and drained out of the eye. Blockage of drainage Mechanism results in fluid accumulating in the eye which damages the nerve of the eye. Glaucoma causes constriction of peripheral field of vision. A detailed Glaucoma evaluation is recommended for proper diagnosis Treatment: Eye drops Laser Surgery
28. Retinal Detachment (RD) Rays Of light pass through the cornea, lens ,vitreous and fall on normal retina (macula) to produce a clear image. Opacities in vitreous result in floaters Separation of retinal layers from the underlined pigment epithelium Is called as RD Treatment: A silicon band is encircled around the eye, and Retina is flattened into place by injecting air/oil bubble RD due to diabetic retinopathy involves Endolaser with vitrectomy
34. Age Related Macular Degeneration In the Normal Eye, rays of light pass through the cornea, pupil ,lens and fall on retina to produce sharp image & clear picture. ARMD: This is the most common cause of irreversible vision loss in people over age of 60 years. ARMD affects the central part of retina called as Macula. This is the only part which is capable of producing a sharp and crisp image, any damage to Macula will lead to blurred vision, wavy vision, even loss in Central part of vision. There are two types of ARMD Dry AMD and Wet AMD What is Dry AMD-? Accumulation of abnormal material beneath the retina called as Drusens What is wet AMD-? Beneath the macula, there is formation of abnormal blood vessels which leak and bleed leading to more severe vision loss. Diagnosis: FFA, OCT and ICG Treatment: Anti-oxidants Injection Avastin/ Lucentis PDT
