They get syndicated (shared) so that content from one source can be automatically surfaced in a different context. Blogs: Empower people to contribute content. Aggregates content so people see what they are interested in. Lets people drive the change by simply providing the means. NOTE: When Blogs first surfaced, we had to make a business decision of whether to embrace it or tell employees not to use it. Since this latter was next to impossible, the decision was made to accept it as a viable form of on-the-job employee collaboration. However, IBM did develop a set of “guidelines” (a code of conduct, or sorts) for use by bloggers which, to our knowledge, have generally been accepted by the IBM community. Today, Blogs (and wikis) are an effective means of viral communications.
