The internet can be used for educational purposes, communication and to find endless amount of information from an unlimited number of resources. World Wide Web is different than the internet because it is a network of sites on the internet which contain words, sounds and pictures. To promote safe internet surfing, use parent controls and make sure to tell others about safe surfing.

Never respond to messages or bulletin board items that are suggestive, obscene, abusive, belligerent, threatening, or make you feel uncomfortable. Because you can't see or even hear the person it is easy for someone to misrepresent him or herself. Instruct your child not to click on any links that are contained in e-mail from persons they don't know.

Always keep where you go to school, your email address and your parents credit card details to yourself. It is possible for someone to hurt you if you give these out!
