Introduction Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] A   cookbook publisher Yum Yum has contacted the school and wants our help creating a multi-culture cookbook to share with families. The publisher wants the cookbook to include the cultures of Mexico, Italy, Greece, and Thailand.  Yum Yum wants the reader of the cookbook to have an understanding of why it is important we learn about other cultures in our American everyday life. The Task Student Page Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] Title To create a cookbook informing the reader why it is important to incorporate different cultures around the world in our everyday American diet.  The cookbook will be filled with multi-culture meal plans and information about each of the cultures you collect recipes from.   
Process page 1  1. You will be assigned to a team of 4 students With the knowledge you already have, as a group, create a page describing why it is important to study other cultures, and how other cultures foods play a role in our everyday American food.  2. Once you finish your intro page you need to each pick one of the countries to research ,  Mexico , Greece,  Italy,  Thailand 3. Once you have picked a country you need to start to gather information about the countries culture. Search for information on the websites listed below your country. Each dinner plan should  provide a recipe for a drink, appetizer, main  course, and dessert. Listed below are websites  you can find recipes at. http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn   http://recipefinder.nal.usda.gov/   http://www.tasteofhome.com/     6. Type up the recipes and use publisher to create a layout of your recipes for your cookbook page.  Process Continued page 2  4. Create an informational page on your country ’ s that shares: 1. Where your country is located 2. History of your country 3. What types of food are eaten in your  country 4. Examples of food we have in      America adapted to our everyday dining  5. Holidays and celebrations  6. Any other interesting information

Each Cookbook should contains: 1.title page 2. table of contents 3.Introduction of why different cultures are important to incorporate in America 4. 4 cultural information pages 5. 4 complete meal plan pages  (each meal plan contains the drink recipe, appetizer, main course, desert recipe).  8. Next lab day you are going to cook a meal using something different from each culture. For example a drink from Mexico, Appetizer from Greece, Main Course from Italy and desert  from Thailand 9.Turn in a  lab sheet ,  make a  Shopping list , and come to  class prepared to cook.  10. Make your meal and turn in Cook Book.

Introduction (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion Aim This web quest was made to get students to think about how other cultures have an impact on the foods we eat today.  The history of where some of our favorite dishes come from. It makes students think about why it is important we learn about other cultures to understand our everyday food.  Also, it makes students work as a group to create an end product together.      Rational  It is important to understand the food we eat in America comes from different cultures teaching us to appreciate other parts of the world.  It helps the understanding that we all bring pieces to the world we live in today. We all work together has one.

Students teach others about different cultures  Students create a creative writing project Students are using the highest level of Bloom ’ s Taxonomy Creating a cookbook, and playing the role of a writer.

Have students explore the web quest for a few minutes and answer any questions the students have  Break students into groups of 4 ( remember they are cooking together to so try to pick students that will work well together)  Have students work in groups writing their introduction page on cultures and their impact on our everyday food.  (45 min) Have students pick one of the 4 countries to research Let students work as you walk around the room answering questions.   Day 2 (90 min) Again let students work on finding their recipes and culture information (60 min) Have students work in group to turn in lab sheet and shopping list by the end of class (15 min) Have students collect each others work and assemble cookbook together(15 min) Remind students their cookbook is due at the end of next class After School go to the store and buy the food listed on students shopping list  Day 3 (90 min) Lab day, have students cook and prepare food (90 min) Turn in cookbooks before they leave class  Go around the room and ask the students what they are cooking?  Why they decided to cook the dishes they are cooking? What is their favorite dish?   All the technology you need to know as a teacher to teach this web quest is how to create pages using publisher.

The cookbook will be filled with multi-culture meal plans and information about each of the cultures you collect recipes from.

Each Cookbook should contains: 1.title page 2. table of contents 3.Introduction of why different cultures are important to incorporate in America 4. 4 cultural information pages 5. 4 complete meal plan pages (each meal plan contains the drink recipe, appetizer, main course, desert recipe). 8. Next lab day you are going to cook a meal using something different from each culture. For example a drink from Mexico, Appetizer from Greece, Main Course from Italy and desert from Thailand 9.Turn in a lab sheet , make a Shopping list , and come to class prepared to cook. 10. Make your meal and turn in Cook Book.

Have students explore the web quest for a few minutes and answer any questions the students have Break students into groups of 4 ( remember they are cooking together to so try to pick students that will work well together) Have students work in groups writing their introduction page on cultures and their impact on our everyday food. (45 min) Have students pick one of the 4 countries to research Let students work as you walk around the room answering questions.   Day 2 (90 min) Again let students work on finding their recipes and culture information (60 min) Have students work in group to turn in lab sheet and shopping list by the end of class (15 min) Have students collect each others work and assemble cookbook together(15 min) Remind students their cookbook is due at the end of next class After School go to the store and buy the food listed on students shopping list Day 3 (90 min) Lab day, have students cook and prepare food (90 min) Turn in cookbooks before they leave class Go around the room and ask the students what they are cooking? Why they decided to cook the dishes they are cooking? What is their favorite dish?   All the technology you need to know as a teacher to teach this web quest is how to create pages using publisher.
