Is a disease in which cells multiply wildly, destroy healthy tissue, and endanger life. Two types of skin cancer melanoma and nonmelanoma.
Melanoma is the dangerous form of skin cancer. Melanoma arises in the Melanocytes, “the cells that make the pigment that gives skin its natural color.” Melanoma is a mole or other skin legion that has not been on your skin before and is cancerous.
Nonmelanoma skin cancer, Basal cell cancer and Squamous cell cancer. All easily detected “small red or pearly bumps; flat, scaly, red areas, or sores that do not heal.”
If the cancer does spread past the skin it will attack major organs resulting in heart failure
Low bone density
Kidney failure
Brain malfunctions
And ultimately death…
Skin pigments called melanin rapidly produce to try and protect ones skin from harmful damage
Causes the melanin to premature and eventually die off exposing ones skin to the harmful effects of the sun. ultraviolet rays in the sun and tanning beds cause the melanin to die off and the skin cancer to spread
Types of prevention
Clothes.. Wearing proper clothing when out in the sun is the first step to prevention
Sunblock.. Moderate SPF.. Apply every 15 to 20 minutes especially if going in the water.. High SPF does not mean more protection
If you happen to develop skin cancer doctors take many steps to make sure it doesn’t spread
