The Human Genome Project By: Vladamir Carrero, Mike Forrest, Mike Mcgarry, Leo Breslin, and Joseph Duffield
Why even do the Human Genome Project? Looking back at the project, one might find it hard to understand why you would want to spend 13 years of your life to map genes. This project is one of the greatest scientific aids today, as genetic disorders are a leading cause of death in the world, and the Human Project is a huge step closer to eliminating them.
Who has access to the information found through the project? Although scientists are the most likely to use the information from the Human Genome Project, the information from the project is public and free for all humans to learn about.
History of the Human Genome Project The Human Genome Project was a 13-year project that was coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health. It was started in the year 1990, and quickly finished in 2003 with the exponential increases in technology. It was neither a theory nor a hypothesis, but a chart that maps all the genes in human DNA
Theories and Hypotheses It was neither a theory nor a hypothesis, but a chart that maps all the genes in human DNA.
So, why was the project started? The Human Genome Project was an international scientific research project that had one primary goal: to determine the sequence of chemical base pairs which make up DNA and to identify and map the genes of the human genome. Scientists from several countries worked together hoping to completely map the genome to help isolate genetic disorders.
Map of the Human Genome
The advantages of having the project to look at We know have knowledge of the effects of changes in DNA so that we can now find new ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent some diseases that affect humans. It is a great addition to human biology.
Discussion and Analysis of Data The Human Genome Project was done so that we can isolate specific genes on the human genome, and it has been finished and is in a chart form that scientists can easily analyze. The scientific community has been working on the project for a while and now it’s finished and able to be used by all scientists for future development, and also for doctors diagnosing genetic disorders. The project is pretty much complete, so now it’s being used to help other scientists with their research.
What we learned from this project: We learned that the project identifies all the approximately 20-25 thousand genes in human DNA. We learned that this project is something that is free for all humans with standard resources to learn about. We learned that this was a recent project that was finished within the last 10 years.
