Born James Mark Borgman, February 24, 1954 - He’s a Pisces.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Went to Elder High School.
He went to Kenyon College; started out as an English major, but then switched to
Art. He drew editorial cartoons for the Kenyon Collegian.
Met his wife, Lynn Goodman in his senior year of college in a class called “Jesus
and the Gospels.”
Comic Strip Series:
Wonk City- ran from 1994 to 1996 in the Washington Post, during the Bill Clinton
administration; many of his cartoons involved a cat involved in “behind-the-
scenes political skullduggery.”
Zits- teamed with Jerry Scott, a cartoon strip about being a teenager.
Awards:
In 1991, at the age of 39, Borgman won the Pulitzer Prize.
He also won the National Cartoonist Society Editorial Cartoon Award for
1986, 1987, 1988, 1994 and 2006. He also won the Reuben Award in 2006.
