the test of time since 1946
With 63 years of continuous development behind us, KWA has played a big
role in creating European garden furniture traditions. Year after year we
have been inspired to contribute in every area – from harvesting timber from
Swedish forests to designing and making finished furniture at our own fac-
tory in Knäred in southern Sweden. Our factory is an enjoyable place to
work today, and already meets future demands for efficient, environmentally
friendly and sustainable production.
KWA makes furniture for people who have high standards of quality,
design and comfort. We make furniture that is suitable for outdoor spaces of
different sizes, for various purposes and for different settings. Our furniture is
designed to cope with being left outside. And although we respect traditional
design, we also enjoy the challenge of new trends and applications. We hope

The well-known Swedish design duo of Bratt & Kahl live and work
together at their home in Saltsjö-Duvnäs, Stockholm. One is a furni-
ture maker and the other an artist, and over the course of 15 years
together their ideas have become interwoven. Rather than promoting
themselves, they stress the importance of form, function and design at
a reasonable price. They are keen to preserve Swedish traditions of
furniture making and aim to bring good furniture design within the
reach of as many people as possible.
Bratt & Kahl designed two of our beautiful white pine sets:
Sandhamn and Chipman. This is furniture that captures the essence
of the sea and summer, combining quality and timeless
design. It is furniture that will last
generations. Distinctive features of these
two groups are the shaped back and gentle
lines. Together, the designers have succeeded
in meeting our challenge to create a
competitive product that can also be
made entirely in Sweden.

80. Maintenance
Wood is a living material that both absorbs and exudes moisture in
time with the changing seasons. As a result of this natural process,
small cracks can appear on the wood’s surface. The formation of these
cracks does not affect the furniture’s durability, but do apply a little
wood oil or stain now and then to prevent the cracks from deepening.
Here are some care instructions that will increase the life span of your
furniture and help to keep it looking like new.

• Protect furniture from damp and wet conditions. Place it under
cover or protect it with our form-fitting rain covers if there is a
risk of rain.
• Wash and dry furniture regularly using a mild detergent.
• Winter storage: wash furniture thoroughly, let it dry and store it
over winter in a cool, dry place.

Should be treated when the surface becomes matt and rainwater no
longer stands in droplets on the surface. The interval between treat-
ments depends on the location of the furniture and the weather
conditions it is exposed to.
