Internet Based Literature Lesson Created by: Amy Miller The Graves Family Goes Camping
Before you begin reading the book, make Predictions about what you think the book is going to be about based on the items listed on the worksheet.  Before You Read
Search on Google to find information about this book and its author. You could also use the authors personal website find out information about her.  Before You Read
After reading about the part where the family finds something on the ground, create a newspaper article using the Web Poster Wizard explaining what the family came upon and what they are going to do. Also add in your own personal view about what you think will happen.  While You Read
Since you have now read the book and understand what the story is about, use this website to create a new  Book Cover that was designed by you focusing on what the story was about and the main aspects of it. Be sure to include important characters, objects, and events from the story the cover should be a full book jacket, so that means a front and back cover and the front and back flaps.   Using the Character Trading Cards create cards for at least 3 characters from the book. You must include include a well written description of the character and where the character mainly is in the book. After You Read
Using this blog, create a list of what you would bring camping if you had a choice. Your list must include at least ten items.  Create a found poem using lines from the book and post it on the same blog as your camping list went on from above. Blog Be creative and try to create a poem that makes sense when read aloud.  Beyond What You Read

Reading: Comprehension and Analysis of Literary Text 3.3 Students read and respond to a wide variety of significant works of children's literature. The selections in the www.doe.in.gov/standards/readinglist.html illustrate the quality and complexity of the materials to be read by students. At Grade 3, students read a wide variety of fiction, such as classic and contemporary literature, historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, folklore, mythology, poetry, songs, plays, and other genres.  Writing: English Language Conventions 3.6 Students write using Standard English conventions appropriate to this grade level.  State English/Language Arts Standards
