These issues include reduction in supply of fossil fuel resources, poor air quality and pollution due to automotive emissions, rising costs of automobile ownership, and growing urban congestion due to increasing numbers of automobiles on road and highway infrastructure. The project name for this vehicle is the Grand Tilting Racer or GTR. To address the above issues, our design approach is to move toward a smaller, narrower vehicle while maintaining most of the benefits associated with a standard car, such as comfort and handling. In order to make the vehicle smaller, we make a logical compromise by limiting the maximum capacity of the vehicle to no more than two occupants, or one occupant and some additional space for cargo. This design decision is justified on the basis that a high percentage of automobiles are used by only one occupant for most daily activities.
