The high peaks enrichment fair 2012 standards based signs
First graders applied their knowledge of the rock cycle to classify
             rocks. Enjoy their books and collections
Learning Goal: Students know how to compare the physical
properties of different kinds of rocks.

BVSD Science Standard: Describes in simple terms how rocks change over time.
BVSD Language Arts Standard: Communicates understandings gained from reading.
BVSD Language Arts Standard: Writes to explain or give basic information about familiar topics.
Second graders researched endangered animals and inferred
          what adaptations their animals have to survive.

 Learning Goal: Students determine important information from
                       nonfiction texts.

BVSD Science Standard: Students know and understand the characteristics and structure of living
things, the processes of life, and how living things interact with each other and their environment..
BVSD Language Arts Standard: Generates oral and written responses to texts based on ideas and
information learned from narrative and informational texts
BVSD Language Arts Standard: Shares facts from informational texts through writing.
Third graders examined primary and secondary sources to analyze
              how Colorado has changed over time.
Learning Goal: Students understand that societies are diverse and
change over time.
BVSD History Standard: Students understand the chronological organization of history and know
how to organize events and people into major eras to identify and explain historical relationships.
BVSD History Standard: Students understand that societies are diverse and have changed over
time.
BVSD Language Arts Standard: Students apply research skills to locate, select, and make use of
relevant information..
Learning Goal: Students apply their knowledge of place value to
create mystery number riddles.

BVSD Math Standard: Students develop (and apply) number sense and use number relationships to
solve (and create) problems.
Fourth graders created a scale model of the solar system.
Learning Goal: Students apply their understanding of ratios and
scales to create a scale model.

BVSD Math Standard (Geometry): Students use geometric concepts, properties, and relationships
in one, two, and three dimensions to model and solve problems.
BVSD Math Standard (Measurement): Students use a variety of measurement tools, techniques,
and systems to solve problems.

                         research projects.
Learning Goal: To become an autonomous learner and explore an
area of interest in depth.

     Presents information in a variety of formats integrating technology
     Compares and contrasts gathered information
     Demonstrates that different resources may have conflicting facts
     Recognizes that ideas and information are influenced by political and historical events
     Locates facts using electronic resources and the Internet
     Cite sources appropriately
     Create a media presentation
Fifth graders developed a financial or business plan.
Learning Goal: Students utilized fractions, decimals and
percentages to analyze the expense categories in their business
plans.
