• MTV is a major music organisation which exhibits
music on various platforms but mostly on TV.
• They are owned by Viacom which are associated
with a number of leading entertainment
programs including nickelodeon.
• The most effective way that MTV exhibit music
videos is by using television, it is very effective
seeing as they have reached half a billion
households worldwide who all watch them. That
means that there is a large audience to watch the
music videos.
3. YouTube
• YouTube is owned by Google which bought the
company in 2006.
• They are probably the most influential institution
when it comes to music video exhibition due to
the large number of global audiences. YouTube is
famous all over the world so there is a high
likeliness of people coming across the videos.
• YouTube also has companies such as vevo who
put up music videos to promote music videos and
artists.
4. Vevo
• vevo is owned by Universal Music Group, Sony
Music Entertainment, Google and Abu Dhabi
Media. It is clear that it is shared between some of
the leading media outlets.
• vevo is very influential in the sense that it is one
of the primary sources of music video consumption
on YouTube.
• the fact that it is primarily used on YouTube
leaves it in a good position due to YouTube's
global reach.
5. Record label websites
• These are good ways for record labels to start off
and have news for their fans, they aren't as
effectives for expanding and are not as influential
as the ones before.
• However they are a very good way to start off for
most music artists to get recognition due to the
fact that sites like YouTube are very broad and
make it very hard for a new video to be seen if
starting off.
6. Artists sites
• Artists sites are similar to a record labels
websites. However these are a lot narrower
and may not be as influential for independent
artists or artists seeking to gain recognition
and grow fast.
• They could although be very influential if
advertised and shared by taking advantage of
social networking and could help the artist
grow and develop a fan base.
7. ITunes
• ITunes is a product of apple which was made for and
is used to exhibit music. It is a very effective way of
artists selling their music to their audience.
• ITunes is I believe very influential for artists which
already have some sort of a fan base. However I
don’t think that they are very effective for new
artists looking to find a fan base to exhibit their
music.
• Overall iTunes is very influential for artists who
already have a fan base but not the best option for
new artists who aren't as known.
8. Independent sites
• Independent sites are I believe the most influential
for small artists seeking recognition.
• Sites such as sb.tv are famous for getting young
independent artists famous by seeking them vital
recognition.
• They aren't however that effective for big artists
although sb.tv has included more mainstream artists
which benefited the site more than the artist
themselves.
9. My option
• In my opinion the best possible option to
exhibit our music video would be for an
independent site to promote it. This is due to
the fact that it is most likely the best way for a
small artist with an unknown music video to
be recognised and to get their video seen.
