4. 13Is anyone among you suffering hardship? Let him pray. Is anyone
cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14Is anyone of you sick? Let him call
the elders of the church and let them pray over him, having
anointed him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15The prayer of faith
will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up. If he
has committed any sin he will be forgiven. 16So confess your sins to
one another and pray for one another so that you can be healed.
The faithful prayer of a righteous man accomplishes great things.
17Elijah was a man like us and he prayed a prayer that it would not
rain and it didn’t rain for three and a half years. 18Then he prayed
again and the heaven gave rain and the earth caused fruit to
sprout. 19My brothers, if anyone among you is straying from the
truth and someone enables him to return, 20the one who turned
him back from the error of his ways will have saved his soul from
death and will have covered a multitude of sins.

15. ISSUE #1:
Some of the people were experiencing hardship
and suffering [and others were not] but were not
taking the issues to God !
Is anyone among you suffering hardship?
Let him pray.
16. ISSUE #2:
Some of the people were experiencing blessing
but were not honouring God by giving praise to
him !
Is anyone cheerful?
Let him sing praises
17. ISSUE #3.1:
Some people were sick but were not calling on
the faith of others – in this case the leaders!
Is anyone sick? Let him call the elders of the
church and let them pray over him, having
anointed him with oil in the name of the Lord.
The prayer of faith will save the one who is sick
and God will raise him up.
18. ISSUE #3.2:
Some people whose sickness was a result of
their sin were not wanting to take ownership of
their sin and confess it openly.
If he has committed any sins he will be forgiven.
So confess your sins to one another and pray for
one another so you may be healed.
19. ISSUE #3.3:
People were limiting what God could do through
their lack of righteousness and faith.
The faithful prayer of a righteous man can
accomplish great things.
Elijah was a man just like us and
He prayed a prayer that it would not rain and it
didn’t rain for three and a half years.
Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain
and the earth caused fruit to sprout
20. ISSUE #4:
Followers of Jesus were not seeking after the
brothers and sisters who had dropped out and
providing a way for them to return to faith
My brothers, if anyone among you is straying
from the truth
and someone enables him to return
the one who turned him back from the error of
his ways
will have saved his soul from death
and will have covered a multitude of sins

and relate to them in a way that will enable them to return
to the path of following Jesus.
30. Checking it Out !
Making the presence of God the first port of
call when you are experiencing hardship and
suffering.
Honouring God by praising him when you are
experiencing blessing.
Transparently mustering all the corporate
faith you can get when you are sick.
Keep offering people a way back when they
have let go of their faith in Christ.
31. Two roads diverged in a yellow
wood, And sorry I could not travel
both And be one traveler, long I
stood And looked down one as far as I
could To where it bent in the
undergrowth;
32. Then took the other, as just as fair, And
having perhaps the better claim Because
it was grassy and wanted wear, Though
as for that the passing there Had worn
them really about the same
33. And both that morning equally lay In
leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I
kept the first for another day! Yet
knowing how way leads on to way I
doubted if I should ever come back.
34. I shall be telling this with a
sigh Somewhere ages and ages
hence: Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I, I took the one less traveled
by, And that has made all the
difference.
