Module Five
                                Final Showcase Project Design

This is a refined version of your earlier project proposal and should contain many more details. It
should also contain an assessment rubric that must reflect each objective of your entire project.
An example of a rubric will be provided in this module.

Designer Topic: #2 Teaching Critical Thinking Strategies in the Classroom through Aesthetic
Experiences

Designer Topic Title: The Addition of Nursery Rhymes with Art into a Spring Reading
Program.

Name of teacher/designer: Shari Grabow

Grade level and/or discipline: Kindergarten
Date of completion: April 14, 2010
Name of Peer Reviewer: Megan Askegaard

Designer Topic Focus: Integrating my Nursery Rhyme unit into my yearly end-of-the-year
spring program. My spring program currently includes the reading of student creations, some
music with actions, and artistic creations that show parents some of the things they have learned
during Kindergarten. I would like to add nursery rhyme drama, nursery rhyme songs with
actions, and nursery rhyme art creations.

Designer Topic Objectives: (state clearly 5-7 learning objectives)
The student will:
   • gain an appreciation for classic Mother Goose nursery rhymes.
   • learn new vocabulary through the nursery rhymes.
   • learn how to rhyme through fun rhymes and songs.
   • explore other versions of rhymes through books, songs, and websites provided by
       teacher.
   • illustrate and narrate a favorite nursery rhyme.
   • perform the class’s two favorite nursery rhymes for an audience.
