Round timber. Tables of volumes
Implementation date: January 1, 1977
Instead of, GOST 2708-44
In that standard volume of roundwood are determined by the thickness of the upper end and the length of the
logs. Measurement and rounding to the accepted gradation of diameters and lengths of timber should be carried out
according to GOST 2292-88.
The volume of timber length from 1.0 to 9.5 m and a thickness of from 3 to 120 cm are shown in Table. 1.
Volumes of timber length from 0.5 to 0.9 m and thickness from 6 to 15 cm, used mostly in mining and coal mining
industries as pillars, are given in Table. 2.
The volume of timber length from 10.0 to 13.5 m and a thickness of 8 to 38 cm, used mainly for various masts and
towers are shown in Table. 3.
The volume of timber which length over 13.5 m is defined as the sum of the volumes of the two logs of
approximately equal length, which is marked with lengthy suspended timber. In place of the markup remove bark in
the form of belt width of 10-15 cm, after that the thickness is measured. Place of measurement should not coincide
with the location of whorled twigs or sag.
The volume of timber length from 2.0 to 7.0 m and a thickness of 6 to 15 cm, obtained from the apical part of the
trunk, which has increased degree of tapering are listed in Table. 4.
Vertex timber is considered timber harvested from the vertex area of trunks, typical of high-knots, and having
tapering not less than 1 cm to 1 m in length assortment.
