- This course covers some of the advanced features and formatting options available in the Lots of returning students older terrified of computers so stressed
- Instructor comments: In CYBER ETHICS, it seems that the students are readily able to apply concepts from complicated ethical theories, such as utilitarianism - "what's in the best interest of the group" fairly easily. I suppose because so many of them use digital technologies frequently, daily, hourly, by the minute sometimes, they seem to grasp that moral standards have a place in their world. They have been able to apply a concept from Kantian ethics - doing an action because it is RIGHT, regardless of the consequences - and see how it works in areas such as downloading illegal files - etc pretty well. Many of them have finally conceeded that downloading songs for free without regards to the rights of artists - (one of my pet concerns, as I have many musician friends) is probably not in the best interest of everyone - so that's pretty cool......hope this helps. - As an acting instructor who has witnessed almost-paralysis with first-time acting monologues or scenes, it surprised me that the students seem to have a type of "permission" about video - to just go for it. I am LOVING teaching this class as I realize what a powerful tool for exposure, catalyzing, prodding, video clips from You Tube can be. They ARE learning about theatre technique, the roles of the 'players' in a production, how difficult acting really is - they are learning. When some report that they are resolved to go see some live theatre... yah... I get a little misty-eyed. The medium of the "now" generation via You Tube is a truly viable way, in 2010, to reach people about the arts
