Lincoln Interactive Orientation
1. The presentation should begin automatically in a moment.
If not, to progress to the next slide, click after each one. To
go back to a previous slide, click on left side of page for the
slide number you need. Or, you can use your mouse scroll
wheel to scroll forward one click (away from you). 1
2. LOG IN
From QDA Homepage, go to “Go to Class” on top right side
Click “Go to Class” again from Learning Management
System page on right
Log in using your
Username- which is your firstlast name (lower case, no
space)
Password-last 4 digits of Social Security number
Next you should see a Lincoln Interactive Icon in the middle
of the page. Click on it. It should take you to your Lincoln
Home Page. To get to your classes and assignments, click on
the top right of page where it says Classes
Click on any course.(All the courses are set up with the same
format.)

My Calendar-use as your personal calendar to set due
dates, etc.
My Organizations, Tasks-don’t worry about these

5. TABS (after you click within a course)
Announcements-Always read this page and any new
announcements from each teacher. These show up in the middle of
your page.
You might be asked to view a Discovery Education United
Streaming Video. In the announcements area , you will see the log in
information for this-username-livideo2, and password-lincoln.
Class Information-This is where you find a syllabus and
brief course description and objectives for your class
Meet your Teacher- go in and meet each teacher for each
of your classes. You’ll find their email addresses here which you will
need to contact each teacher. When you contact your teacher
include Course name, unit and lesson numbers, and your student ID
(which we will give you). Be Specific with any questions you have.
You will have to use your QDA email * account which we will tell you
about at the end of this presentation. 5
6. Course Guide- this is a large document that
contains all of the information for this course in one
place including your Online Text. Also in the Course
Guide is Assignment Checklist Sheet, which corresponds
with assignments listed at the bottom of each lesson. *
Course Calendar Calculator- this is a good
tool to use to stay on track with your assignments. You
can put in start date and end date and it will calculate
what days your assignments are due. This will help you
stay on track, but you are in charge of your own schedule.
It’s an optional tool.

7. Discussion board-Use this tab if your teacher
asks you to respond to a teacher’s question or you can
discuss your academic ideas with other students here. To
find out more Discussion Board information, go to
Getting Started Tab. Also look for the video under
Discussion Board Tab or for a link near the bottom of this
presentation.
IMPORTANT: The Discussion Board is not a place to do
social chatting.

Getting Started
Course Expectations-This includes the
Academic Honor Code which includes plagiarism and
cheating. The Academic Honor Code * has only been
updated in the Course Information; please use this as a
reference. The Getting Started tab still may contain the old
version of the Academic Honor Code.
These revisions can be viewed through a link in the
Course Information tab under the “Academic Honor
Code” heading. Please take time to read the new version.
Previously, it stated that fifty percent, which has been
changed to seventy percent, with regards to the
opportunity to resubmit work. Next we will discuss
Academic Referral.

9. Academic Referral Violation
a) To earn up to 70% of the original point value of the
assignment, a student will be given the opportunity
to resubmit the work (with directions from the
Teacher Facilitator for the first offense).
1. Completing a Pre-test –You may be
asked to take a Pre-Test, which you will find
from EdMastery ,which doesn’t affect your
grades. Just do the best you can. It’s to see
what you already know before you take the
course.
Communications-Here you can find
more on specific Class Announcements,
Discussions Boards, Meet Your Teacher, Student
Email- (which we will explain at the end of this
Power Point, and how to attach a sound file if you
have to do a Power Point Presentation and narrate
some slides. )*

Assignments
1. Key Concepts-(Key Icon-)You are expected to
do these. They include main items for the class
and don’t have to be turned in.
2. Reinforcement-(Lock Icon)-Expected activities
to reinforce and practice the key concepts-not
to be turned in to teacher
3. Enrichment-(Light Bulb Icon) these are
optional for extra information-not to be
turned in to teacher
4. Assignment types-graded and non graded-
Point values are given for graded assignments.
5. Essay type-Graded assignments are listed
through the Ed Mastery Link at the bottom of each
lesson. When you click on this it will take you to
the page that has the list of graded assignments,
the same as when you take a pre-test. 10
11. 6. Graded Assignments-Ed Master Link- These
assignments can include multiple choice, essays, fill-in-the-blank,
or matching questions. Full semester courses will have four units
with 10 lessons. Most courses will have a Part 1 and Part 2 which
will need to be finished to complete the course. Some courses are
just one semester. Check with your Instructional Supervisor if you
have questions concerning your courses.
Assignments-Short Answer and Essay-this will tell
you the point values for each type and expectations. There’s
also a video about taking an assessment. Make sure you read

Type your work, then do a “save as”. Make sure to save in
this format: American Lit Part 1_Unit 3_Lesson5_SB1037777
If you are using Open Office Word Processing Program,
make sure file type underneath file name says 97/2000
doc. This will make it so it’s compatible with your teacher’s
program.
Then click on your graded assignment in EdMastery, click
Browse button, find and click your assignment. It should go
into the box or area beside the browse button.
When ready, click upload, then submit Lesson to
Instructor at the bottom of page. Write any comments to
teacher.

14. Units-1-4- Here is where you will find your LESSONS
for your first semester. Please do these in order.
EdMastery Link
Graded assignments- click on the EdMastery link
(usually found at the bottom of a lesson), find and click
on your assignment, and click on Take Exam Now, and
again, Take Exam. From this screen, you can take it, or
choose Print the Exam or Quiz ahead of time.

Taking an Exam-Maneuvering through the Exam-SAVE
each ANSWER- you can “jump to” any question from the
bottom part of screen clicking the black triangle which
will drop down all questions. (you can change answers as
much as you want until you hit COMPLETE EXAM
button.) Once submitted, it will be graded.

16. Sample-This is the sample screen that appears each
time Edmastery link is clicked from anywhere in the
Lincoln Program. Default is : Show Incomplete Exams and
Lessons, from the Manage Courses section. Notice red
progress bar that changes to green as a student
progresses.

Monitor Progress-After completing the graded
assignments, through EdMastery, you may monitor
your progress through the Grade book tab within the
EdMastery link. Grades- To access your grades, go to
Grades Tab on left, or when you’re in Edmastery
screen, click on Grade Book tab. Parents can check
this area too.

Locate Completed Assignments- from EdMastery
Screen (see example page) click middle link: Show
Completed Exams and Lessons button. If you click
on this link you will see a list of your completed
assignments. You will be able to see the unit and lesson
number of the assignment, the date that it was
completed, the number of possible points, the points you
received and your grade. If you click on your number of
points you will be able to see your assignment. You will
see the correct answers in green and the incorrect
answers in red. This is a good place to go to review for
mid unit, unit review, and unit exams. Share this site
with your parents. Also read Teacher Comments at the
bottom. These are important !

19. How to Access a Lesson

the left side-this gives a brief
description of the unit and the unit
objectives
Under these Objectives, you may see
Assignment Checklist. You can print
this and use it to mark off your
completed assignments. This
checklist corresponds to the
assignments at the bottom of the end
of each lesson.

Pretest-You may be asked to take a pre-test.
Click on EdMastery link to go to the list of
graded assignments. The Pre-Test is NOT
graded. It’s to access your prior knowledge.
Some of the questions may be hard but some
will be easy. Just do your best and don’t worry
about it. After completing the Pretest, click
on lesson 1. You can have the lesson read to
you by clicking the audio podcast icon.
Lesson Icons-You have to do Key Concepts
and Lock (reinforcement) Activities.
Light Bulb activities aren’t required.
Activities may be highlighted in colors. You
have to do the yellow and purple, but not the
blue enrichment activities. 20

Lesson 1- Read through the lesson, do what
they ask you to do, and take good notes. Get a
notebook or binder to put all your work in for each
subject. At the bottom, you should see the
assignments you should have completed, which
again correspond with Assignment Checklist. You
can print checklist to keep track of the work you’ve
completed.

Print Exam-Students can go into Edmastery link (usually
found at the bottom of a lesson), before you take exam, click on
graded assignment within the Show Incomplete Assignments
area>click on Take Exam Now, and again, Take Exam. From this
screen, you can preview and print the Exam or Quiz ahead of
time and work on it. You can go into this area before you
actually take your exam. (Click take exam now>take exam).
There should be a PRINT button at the top.

Other Important Information-
1. You are required to work one hour per class per
day, five days per week.
2. Some lessons take 1½-2 days to complete. If you
finish before your hour is finished, you can
start the next lesson.
3. Use Course Calendar Calculator to keep
yourself on pace.
4. You will be assigned an Instructional
Supervisor who will contact you on a regular
basis to check your progress. Feel free to
contact them with questions, as they are there
to help you to be successful. If you have a
specific lesson question, contact the teacher
for that class by email.

5. If you have a technical issue with the Lincoln program,
contact the Lincoln tech Help Tab on the left side of your
page.
6. Do your lessons in order. Don’t skip around.
7. Remember: You’re required to work one hour per subject
per day, 5 days a week. If you don’t work 5 days a week, you
will be considered truant.

New Student Orientation
Once finished with Lincoln orientation, please go to our
QDA Home Page, hover over “Go to Class” in upper top right
corner, then click on New Student Orientation. Follow steps
1-6 on left side of the page. Step 3 is what you’ve just
completed, the Lincoln Program Orientation.
Complete steps 1 and 2. Please read our Student
Handbook in step 1! This information is extremely
important!
Also read our Acceptable Use Policies in step 2.
You will be assigned an Instructional Supervisor, or “IS”,
who will be your main contact person, other than the
teachers for each class, so in step 6, you will need to know
who your Instructional Supervisor will be, before you can
complete # 5, questionnaire, then email your Instructional
Supervisor when you’ve completed the questionnaire. That
should complete the orientation process.
