Ltd is now
entering its final
“End Game”
phase of its
investment and
refurbishment
programme with
the installation of
another new
NEGRI BOSSI eV650-6700 moulding machine.
This is part of a multimillion pound programme that commenced over 5 years ago which has
seen the replacing of all older machines with new energy efficient, reliable plant. The average
age of machine has now fallen to under 5 years old. The company has also invested heavily in
the infrastructure with refurbishments to the office block, factory floor and significant
investment in a new MRP software and hardware to integrate with MATTEC production
monitoring.
Managing Director Glyn Olden commented: ‘Chess Plastics is a mature moulder that has
been manufacturing for over 50 years now. We realised a few years ago that to exceed
customer expectations we needed to invest heavily to replace plant, refurb buildings, take on
the most up to date IT solutions and infrastructure and invest heavily in staff. We now have a
first class facility with the latest machines ranging from 380T to 1300T, most of which are
Negri- Bossi. These are all connected to their AMICO online fault monitoring software so
that any issues can be speedily resolved.
Chess are currently discussing a further exciting new investment innovation using some of
the industry's most advanced lean, flexible and environmentally friendly manufacturing
processes which will see further advantages to the customers and place us firmly in the
future!

2. Our turnover is now £8.5 Million which is growing each year and its important as we enter
this post BREXIT era to ensure that our service is up to date and current as customers have
high expectations.
It is hoped that by following this policy it will allow Chess to support growth in a strong UK
manufacturing industry by exploiting the domestic competitive advantages.'
