Address to the Global Water Partnership (GWP)'s Consulting Partners Meeting 2009, on the subject of how GWP CACENA can help resolve water resource related conflicts in Central Asia and Caucasus.
This session explores whether water experts can contribute to solving water conflicts. My answer is yes: an experienced conflict facilitator must work in close cooperation with experts that provide technical and scientific evidence. Only by combining a trust-building process with commonly agreed standards and joint data can disputing parties establish sustainable agreements. In the following I will share the findings from our work with the European Commission in Central Asia last year.
