Static (ahead-of-time) compilation of code appeared in Oracle JDK 9. We have already discussed why this is necessary, and the scope of the current implementation. Now it makes sense to talk about the technical details. Anyone can easily suffer from some already known problems of current implementation. From the other hand it makes sense to test potential benefits and to try a tiny piece of bright future. But one must realize how to try it right. What information is generated by the AOT and how it is generated, how compiled AOT code interacts with Hotspot. Compiling Java bytecode into ready-to-execute machine code before runtime means that many applications may benefit from quicker startup and, in the case of multiple JVM instances, even lower memory consumption. In this demo-heavy session, you will see what advantages AOT has to offer and, perhaps even more importantly, what its limitations are. You will also get the opportunity to see Java’s new AOT compilation in action and leave with the knowledge needed to experiment on your own later. Although Java’s AOT is not yet ready for production use, this is a great chance to get a sneak peek at one of HotSpot’s most exciting new technologies.

Abstract: "Performance with Native Images" GraalVM is a high-performance polyglot runtime for dynamic, static, and native languages. One of the abilities of GraalVM is to compile Java programs ahead of time into native images that offer performance comparable to running on the JVM but have instant startup times and much lower runtime overhead. Generating native images is proven to work on real-world applications. In this session, you will learn how native images work and what is required to generate them and will look at several examples of compiling programs ahead of time and packaging them into minimal containers. You’ll also see how to configure native image generation, work around the limitations, and configuring your application to use native images.

As the decades progressed, AI evolved significantly. The 1980s focused on machine learning, teaching computers to learn from data, leading to the development of models that could improve their performance based on their experiences. The 1990s and 2000s saw further advances in algorithms and computational power, which allowed for more sophisticated data analysis techniques, including data mining. By the 2010s, the proliferation of big data and the refinement of deep learning techniques enabled AI to become mainstream. Notable milestones included the success of Google's AlphaGo and advancements in autonomous vehicles by companies like Tesla and Waymo.
