A Day with Read India
1. A DAY WITH READ INDIA IN BIHAR : TUESDAY 17 JUNE 2008 VASUDEVPUR GOVERNMENT SCHOOL BAJPATTI BLOCK SITAMARHI DISTRICT BIHAR
2. The summer holidays have not yet started. Children from Std 1 and 2 are sitting together. We begin to chat. The discussion is about cats. Everyone has a lot to say about cats, especially cats in the village. But when I suggest that we draw a cat, children say “Bahut mushkil hai. That is too hard.” So, then what shall we draw…….? A day with Read India in Bihar …
3. We all think and think. “What about a “chuha” (mouse)?” “ Yes !” says one little girl. “There are lots in my house”. Everyone agrees. There is consensus. Chuha can be drawn. Heads bend down and everyone is hard at work. Soon chuhas (mice) appear on paper, on slates in notebooks. All kinds and shapes. Each distinctive. Some children write the word next to the picture. Others write their name. Everyone is drawing and writing……………….. Neha and her friend with their chuhas. Lets chat and then lets draw ….
4. Everyone is drawing. Some are writing too. And everyone is jumping up to show what they have made. It is easy and it is fun. Each drawing looks different. Just like each face is different. Same way, each drawing is different. Can you see what we have made? Do you like what you see?

8. The story and our illustrations In their own way, every one has tried to draw a boy, a dog and six potatoes. Just like in the story. After talking about the story, it is easy to draw things from the story. This way we never forget what happens in the story.
9. Join us as we have fun learning to read, write and draw. Come back soon and visit us again.
