Antisocial Personality Disorder When someone has abnormal thinking patterns, no regard for right or wrong, and a complete disregard for the rights, thoughts, and feelings of others. People with the disorder are more commonly referred to as sociopaths. About 20% of prisoners would qualify as being a psychopath. What is it?

Possible Causes ,[object Object],However, these factors are linked to the disorder: 1. A history of antisocial disorder or other personality disorders. 2. Being sexually or physically abused as a child. 3. Suffering a loss of parents through death or divorce. 4. Having been diagnosed with childhood conduct disorder. 5. An unusually small amygdala in the brain.

Case Study #1: ,[object Object],*Convicted for the rape and murder of over 20 women. *he was once a good student and had good manners, but he was the subject of teasing and bullying due to being unpopular. *Charmed victims to get close to them. He used artificial casts to approach women and ask them to carry something to his car. *he was apprehended, escaped, and caught again after doing some more violent acts. *Sentenced to death in 1989 in Florida. *Before execution, he confessed to at least 28 murders.

Case Study #2: ,[object Object],*painfully shy and had low self-esteem. *was molested by a neighbor when he was a child. *parents went through a bitter divorce. *killed animals and put their heads on stakes in his yard. *was abandoned after graduating from high school at age 17 *was responsible for killing 17 men and boys between the years 1978 and 1991. *victims were stabbed or strangled to death. He performed sexual acts to the cadavers, and sometimes performed lobotomies on them.

Case Study #3 ,[object Object],*When he was 11, he was hit while playing on the swing set and suffered a brain aneurism which caused many blackouts. *He also had a heart ailment. *Was a very likeable man and good Christian in his community *Given the title of “Killer Clown” because he entertained kids as “Pogo the Clown.” *Convicted of the torture, rape and murder of 33 males between the years 1972 and 1978. *Executed by lethal injection on May 10 th , 1994.

Treatment ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],-Medication should not be used to try and cure the disorder.
