The quest to capture reality goes
back thousands of years
In 9th century the Arabian
scientist Alhuzen developed
what would become to be known
as the camera obscura
4. The Quest for reality
The camera obscura, a dark room/space in
which an inverted image was projected onto a
surface
During the Renascence (16th century) Artist
became increasingly interested in exploring and
representing the reality of nature.
Artists such as Leonardo Da vinci developed
various techniques to assist them in their quest
fro the perfect perspective
The camara obscura was one of these tools

Today you will be making a mini Camera
obscura.
Use the worksheet provided to create your very
own camera obscura
Once you have created the box you will be
asked to create a scene on the tracing paper
Choose a scene that can demonstrate good
perspective
7. Homework
Make a drawing using your new camera
Obscura.
Bring in a series of objects that can be used in
the next lesson to create photograms
