7. What is Gtechnology / GElectric
Gtechnology is Commercial Off-The-Shelf Software
GElectric is the Industry Ware (Model) built on top of
Gtechnology : Metadata (Oracle) and windows DLLs
Microsoft .NET Framework
8. The Difference
Is a Utilities Solutions
Is not a CAD Application with a Utility Plug-In
Utilities Data Integrity is built in : Rules Based
Fast Display : Dynamic Display Cache
User Geometry and Attribute data are written and stored
together in RDBMS
Geometry Data is Open : Oracle Spatial
Strong Integration Capability with Other Systems
9. The Difference
Unique Identifier : G3E_FID, across ALL data layers
Real World Data, not lines and points, but Electric
Cables and Switches
Relationships, Validation and Functional Interfaces
ensure real world model
– Only connect a cable to a switch
– Only mount a Over-Head Transformer to a Pole
10. Benefits
Closer Collaboration between Departments, especially
Operations and Planning, e.g. via redlines
Planning data is Enterprise enabled; everyone can see
Better Integration with Other Systems
Data Integrity
Accurate Costing, e.g. cable length
Accurate Asset Management / Tagging
Increased Productivity at all levels;
– Reduce / No Double Entry
– Planners workflows can be streamlined
– Operations and Planning work on the same data
11. Life Cycle Management
Manage the Scheme / Job
Job State : Proposed, In-Progress,
Completed
Integrates with Inventory / Store,
Financial System (SAP)
Features can have different states,
e.g. Demolished (manhole),
Recovered (cable), In-Service
(switch)
Long-Term-Transaction
Different Versions of a Plan, “what if
scenarios”
Is not Oracle Workspace;
versioning
12. Schematics
Dynamic generation of schematic.
Schematic diagrams are displayed in a regular
interactive map window. This allows window operations,
such as tiling or cascading, and view operations, such as
zooming in or out. Also the user can control the display
of the schematic through the Display Control.
14. Simulation and Analysis Software
Data Export to Simulation and Analysis Software
SynerGee Electric
High Quality of data helps to reduce data cleansing
needed for Simulation and Analysis.
15. G/Technology Supported Environments
Windows Server 2008, 32-bit and 64-bit
Windows 7 - SP1
Internet Explorer 8/9 (IE8)
Oracle 11g
Identity and Access Management Services: SSO
16. G/Technology Latest Features
New functionality in G/Technology is primarily focused
on improving memory management. Users who have
complex configurations and workflows have exceeded
virtual memory (user space limit) after working with the
G/Technology desktop for a few hours.
Solutions that reduce memory use are made to the
software in the following areas:
17. G/Technology Latest Features
Changing access to several metadata tables for both the
core software and the public API
Removing queries and traces that are no longer used
Attaching large CAD files (DGN and DWG)
Validating job edits
Selecting fenced areas
Editing features
Editing common attributes
NetViewer performance improvement
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9)
18. G/Technology Latest Features
Translucency of Lines/Areas
Raster Transparent Colors - SP2
Open Geospatial Consortium‘s (OGC) Web Map Service
(WMS) and Web Feature Service (WFS)
.NET API Enhancements
Schematics options:
– As temporary geometries
– Created and displayed as detail graphic components of the
features that they represent.
