3. Coaching Log – Athlete Observation
Date 10/12/14
Location Long room
Strengths I have knowledge of Rob from previous experiences as I've trained
and played with him for three years. I've also been able to watch
Robs games over the last 2 years giving me a more detailed analysis.
Improvement
Areas
I could of got a wider range of games, as the footage I watched was
only at college level. I could of used some of his county footage as it
would of gave me more depth when scoring Rob’s twenty traits. E.G
control of anxiety, as he is more like to be more anxious in higher
level games. I also could of watched Rob from a spectator point of
view.
Points for
future
discussion
I feel next time I will question Rob about his own performance in
games to see his own understanding, again helping me and him get a
more detailed analysis of his twenty traits.
Possible
actions arising
When looking over my scores, I will go over them to make sure they
are more detailed and I will also look over recent games at different
levels.
4. Coaching Log – Athlete Profiling
Meeting
Date
Location Worthing college
Discussion
points
Me and Rob discussed the twenty traits and the ASI ASA, I talked him
through how the discrepancy works, when Rob was scoring himself I
often questioned him about why he decided some traits were perceived
to be more important than others. Me and Rob had a fairly long
discussion I feel we had enough time to go through all the aspects with a
clear understanding of the outcome.
Concerns I feel Rob may have over marked himself in some aspects, this is
negative as it effects the validity of the triangulation when working out
Robs strengths and weaknesses.
Points for
future
discussion
I feel Rob had a clear understanding of the scale and how he was being
marked. In the future I feel Rob needs to think about his own scoring and
give more of a true representation.
Possible
actions
arising
I will ensure that I will give the coach the same detailed analysis of the
scale and how Rob is marked, as this will make my triangulation more
valid and reliable.
5. Coaching Log – Coach Profile Meeting
Date
Location Worthing college
Discussion
points
I explained why I had chosen Rob in this performance profiling. I then
went onto explaining how the scoring system worked. I then was able to
discuss my scores against the coaches scores in the triangulation.
Concerns I was initially concerned the coach wouldn’t be able to understand my
scoring system but I will after some questioned asked by the coach he
was fully aware of the system.
Points for
future
discussion
To contact both the coach and athlete to make sure the scores are
agreed upon and Rob sees them as a fair assessment of his skills.
Possible
actions
arising
I will met Robs coach again after I've found out Robs strengths and
weaknesses to make sure he thinks this is correct for Robs improvement
in the future.
