1. Discuss the degree to which the theory of Plate Tectonics is supported by the distribution of volcanic and seismic activity across the globe.
The major surface features of the earth can be completely explained by the theory of plate tectonics. To what extent do you agree with this statement.  Volcanic and seismic events are major factors towards proving the validity of plate tectonic theory. Discuss. (40)
2. Using examples highlight the risks associated with areas of vulcanicity and possible responses to them
3. With reference to examples comment on the issues arising from areas with a high risk of seismicity and responses to them
4. Tectonic hazards are now manageable and should not result in loss of life in MEDC’s. Discuss this statement with reference to examples you have studied.
The world distribution of population is as important as the world distribution of areas of tectonic activity in predicting the hazards of volcanic activity. Discuss (40)
Discuss the view that attempts at management of hazards are a waste of time and effort. (40)   To what extent do you agree with the view that the hazards resulting from earthquakes and volcanic activity cannot be managed but merely adapted to? (40)
