- Gencat Open Data (dadesobertes.gencat.cat/en) is the
Government of Catalonia’s portal, managed by the Directorate-
General for Citizens Attention.
- The data derive from different public organizations of the
Government of Catalonia and are grouped into a data catalogue.
- It is committed to the progressive opening up of the public data
it has available, with the privacy, safety and intellectual property
limitations that apply in each case, according to the government
agreement of 9th November 2010 i 31st July 2012.

The Government of Catalonia follows international movements of opening up public data and upon the advice of experts from the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
We open public information according de European Directive from 1993, that wil be changed in next months...
By this strategy, as the Government of Catalonia, we are committed to the progressive opening up of the public data it has available. This portal is another step in the same direction because, following recommendations from the W3C, it groups together all the Government’s open data initiatives into a single catalogue, and adds the most important information associated with them for reuse purposes.
Oppening up public information , there is a desire : To progress towards open governance based on values of transparency, participation, service and efficiency. To promote value creation with the reuse of public information, Also to facilitate the internal organisation of information systems within the Administration And to foster interoperability between public sector services and also between public and private sectors.
The Government of Catalonia opens up the available public data and applies in each case the privacy, safety and intellectual property limitations , according to the web legal notice of Gencat .
