1. SUMMER SCHOOL
Sperreng Middle School—2013
1. There is NO formalized summer school for the 2012-2013
school year, EXCEPT:
Current 8th graders going to the high school may be en-
rolled in mandatory Success 101 taken at the high school.
Current 6th and 7th grade students who meet the require-
ments for summer school listed in the 2012-2013 Student
Handbook (Page 23) “Students who will be required to at-
tend summer school for promotion include those that earn
two quarter Fs in any core content area and have a cumula-
tive GPA below 1.5 OR those that earn three quarter Fs in
any core content area (Communication Arts, Science, Math,
Social Studies)” will be eligible for and placement in Inter-
vention Activities for fall 2013. These Intervention Activi-
ties may include but are not limited to the following:
A. Parent Conference with team at beginning of
school year
B. Learning Lab
C. Math Lab
D. Reading Class
E. Homework Recovery (after school program)
F. Power Lunches (lunch spent with a teacher doing
remedial academic activities)
G. Grade contract/probation-may narrow the
opportunities for participation in electives,
exploratory, clubs and other activities until
grades are restored.
2. Sperreng will have required attendance makeup for stu-
dents who did not meet the 2012-2013 Board of Education
95% attendance requirement to move to the next grade
level. This will be done during the month of June 2013.
It is vitally important that middle school students accept
responsibility for and become engaged in their learning!
At the high school level students do not receive credit for
a class they fail and 24 credits are necessary for gradua-
tion at Lindbergh High School. Good academic habits for
success that began in elementary school need to continue
through middle school and into high school! If you have a
