YouTube has increased accessibility to animation and allowed animators to gain broader audiences. Cheaper animation software has also increased the number of animators and types of animations created, such as more affordable short animations. Computer animation has simplified the animation process and improved smoothness and accuracy compared to traditional animation. Digital photography has further reduced costs and added benefits like digital coloring, appealing more people to animation.

2. YouTube has affected animation as it gives easy
access to videos, also allowing animators to gain
a wider audience. For example my final
animation, that was posted on YouTube, has had
regular Peruvian viewers. YouTube also increases
âviralâ distribution, people who watch videos on
YouTube are more then likely to tell their
friends about what they have viewed, creating
popularity for certain videos. The most popular
animation on YouTube is a short animation called
âCharlie The Unicornâ. This animation is very
random, which makes it surprisingly popular.
3. The fact that animating software is now cheaper
is now making animation more common. This is
giving a big increase on animators, allowing more
talent to be seen and noticed. This also has
created an influx of short animations, as they
are now affordable and can be recognised as a
hobby. If software was still very much
expensive, I wouldnât have been able to of even
created an animation for my course due to the
costs.
4. âOnion-skinningâ is a form of editing where you
can faintly see one frame behind another. This
can make you animation more smooth as you are
able to see if everything is in the right place
and if anything has moved, allowing you to move
it back into place without having to guess. It
also allows you to keep a good eye on the
progress of your animation. We didnât use
âOnion-skinningâ but I think that it could of
helped us in our animation, and made the process
much easier.
5. Computers have had a massive affect over animation; it has
made animating so much more simpler then it originally was.
The animations made with computers are much smoother and
even more accurate. You can also check your progress
easier, without having to finish the whole animation,
minimising the chances of mistakes. Tweening was
introduced, which is basically âOnion-skinningâ but
automatically done by the computer, simplifying the
animattion. All my groupâs animations were created on
computers, and if animations were not able to be created
through computers, doing our animations would have been
even more tedious. They probably wouldnât of even gone
ahead.
6. The fact that there is now digital photography
increases the cost on animation; itâs cheaper. It
allows you to do digital colouring and makes
animation seem more appealing. It also makes
more people want to do animation as digital
technology is very known and seems to be easy
to use. Without the digital photography we used
animating would have been quite a hard task,
not that it wasnât hard already! But digital
photography has been a great benefit towards
our animations
