1. Sanding the base and the chicken
2011-3-24 Thursday
What has been done today?
43434002795270This is me using a Tenon saw to cut the corners.16002006877053886200230505 Today I cut the corners of the base piece, because if I just disc sand it, it's going to take long time. I first mark out the lines, then use a Tenon saw to cut it off. It is hard wood, so it is harder to sand. After sanding it, the base looks very smooth and nice. But after, I think I should
This is me using Disc sander to sand the wood. This is the base after I disc sand it. -45720073025leave one edge straight, because I am going to add the leaves, so it will be easier if the edge is straight. After that, I began to file of chicken shape. I first used a half round file, but then Mr. Anderson said it’s too slow, so I changed to a rasp file. The teeth on rasp file are very rough, so it files faster. But still it will take long time to file.
What's next?
Next, I am going to continue filing the chicken, it will take me a lot of time. Also I need to cut the rest of the piece of wood of the chicken, because I didn't use that part. And I need to round the edge of the base.
Emotion
I am really excited about the chicken, because it is going to look very cute, and I’ve never made something round out of wood. So it’s new and challenging for me.
Learner profile: approaches to learning
We can always learn something new in DT, about the tools and other things.
