About Me: I started GHID in Fall 2010, before that I was doing freelance work and part-time employment with Williams-Sonoma Home as an in-house designer. Moved to Portland 7 yrs ago – started restoring my 1909 Foursquare and then bought some other property to develop as rental property. -Prior Corp life at Gap Inc, developed technology for the fast-paced Old Navy Brand, managed the project of first retail Gift Card for a retailer, introduced money scales to US, developed payroll and operational standards for the company -June of 1999 Life Changing Event that was a workplace injury, multiple individuals were injured and I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury TMI -6-8 months I wasn’t very responsive and then began to have 30+ hrs of therapy a week in my home to learn to eat/swallow, read, speak and walk again. -Long process of a lot of care from family and friends and an occupational therapists developed a rehab program customized for me -Within the therapy groups I didn’t fit the ‘norm’ TBI patient, most where injured in logging, iron work, or dock environments -My therapy became the remodel of a home, working slowly installing a new sink and faucet and a lot of my childhood growing up working on construction sites came back as a knowledge base -We then continued to work on two more homes and thus far in my remodeling and home owning we have remodeled 17 homes.
