«Just because your paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not mapping you.» Satellite Spotting/Listening at dock18 alejo duque sept2010

Satellites are used to extend, mantain and exercise control, along with cultural allienation and economical explotiation. They serve as an extension to a post-colonial hegemony that reaches out the hemispherical south through hertzian dimension.

The problem of how to get there could be tackled by launching from a HEB (High Elevation Ballon)

A poetic or even a political recount of such devices, their orbits, footprints, be them through sound compositions or data visualizations can serve the purpose to allow a move from being passively surveilled, mapped and directed through radio electric waves, to a less passive stage where we can rethink and become operators. there's not even the need to launch or «own» as some brazilian satcom pirates have shown for few years now reappropriating 24/7 a US military bird and more precisely its UHF freq. at 255.550mhz. (fltsatcom-8 15E)
Some Instruments: Radio Scanner, EMF meter, IR filters, SDRs (USRP)

  • 32. The Bogota Declaration is an unratified UN declaration about sovreignty of the geostationary orbit, which is the ring of satellites that orbit at 36 000 km above the equator. At the time it was first written, no equatorial countries had satellites and most of the slots were taken by the dominant nations, highlighting inequalities in technology. The Bogota Declaration is about this and talks about the benefits satellite technology could bring to equatorial countries. It has a strong, poetic voice we were also taken by. http://bogotadeclaration.wordpress.com/
