The BSE Sensex closed below the BSE Smallcap 6,911 7,100 (2.65) 16,000 level for the first time in 18 months as it lost over 297 points on weak global trend amid worldwide Nifty Junior 9,598 9,815 (2.22) economic slowdown. The broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also dipped below 4,800 point level to close 91 points lower at 4,748 following weak trend in the Asian region and lower opening in Europe.
