2. Arrival
We came to Austin’s Colony to just start over. We
got there by sailing on the Lively. We qualified for
land because of my dad, mom, sister, me, and
our slaves.
3. Arrival
We qualified for 1,360 acres of land. The trip on
the Lively was hard, because of little food and
water.
4. 1822
In 1822 the cold harsh winter was very hard
when we were on the Lively, because many of
the cattle died.
5. 1822
Also the Lively was very late in arriving, and lots
of building needed lumber
6. 1823
In 1823 there were many problems like the Lively
sinking, the dispute with Mexicans over export of
cotton.
7. 1823
Also the small demand for lumber, but there was
a mild winter and a good year for cattle
8. 1824
In 1824 the colony thrived and was the greatest
year in Austin’s colony. Because of the bumper
cotton crop.
9. 1824
Also because of the high demand for lumber and
for beef. So the colony did not have any
problems.
