2. What is Plagiarism?
According to the Merriam-Webster Online
Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means:
to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another)
as one's own
to use (another's production) without crediting the
source
to commit literary theft
to present as new and original an idea or product
derived from an existing source.
3. All of the following are considered plagiarism
turning in someone else's
changing words but
work as your own
copying the sentence
copying words or ideas
structure of a source
from someone else without giving credit
without giving credit
copying so many words
failing to put a quotation
or ideas from a source
in quotation marks that it makes up the
giving incorrect majority of your
information about the work, whether you give
source of a quotation credit or not (see our
section on "fair use"

Here are some recent findings regarding plagiarism:
A study by The Center for Academic Integrity found
that almost 80% of college students admit to cheating
at least once.
According to a survey by the Psychological Record 36%
of undergraduates have admitted to plagiarizing
written material.
A poll conducted by US News and World Reports found
that 90% of students believe that cheaters are either
never caught or have never been appropriately
disciplined.
