2. The Problem
Once upon a time, a long time ago the gods
wanted to get rid of Tiamat all the gods
agreed this was a great planed although no
one wished to battle Tiamat as she was very
powerful
3. The Good Guys
In desperation Ea the wise water God decided
that Marduk had the best chance of defeating
Tiamat, Marduk was young but he had
powerful skills and extremely quick witted
Marduk accepted to battle her
4. Marduk’s Terms
Marduk knew he would have quite a fight on his
hands he thought it over. He told Ea he would
try to conquer evil if the gods agreed to his
terms the gods promised to make Murduk
Chief of gods if he battled Tiamat and won.
5. Ea’s Tricky Plan
Ea knew he couldn’t make such a deal on his
own Ea knew he would have to have approval
of all the gods Ea knew all the gods would be
unhappy Ea threw a banquet and invited all
the gods He had a lot of wine musicians and a
lot of food the gods agreed to the plan
6. The Battle
Marduk armed himself with a bow and several arrows a
giant club a net of storms and a lighting dagger he
went to search of Tiamat. Marduk fought one monster
after another that Tiamat was creating each time he
killed a monster he got closer to Tiamat one day he
got close enough to catch her in his nets Tiamat
howled with furry before she could conjure yet
another monster, Marduk shot an arrow down her
howling throat and killed her! Marduk took his club
and split Tiamats body in half he placed
half of her body in the sky and made the heavens
7. He posted guards to make sure she did not escape and
gave the twinkling light to show all is well he created
the moon to protect the heavens and set it to go back
and for a endless patrol with the other half of the body
he made the land and with both eyes he made two
flowing rivers called Tigris river and the Euphrates he
Planted fields of grain and vegetables blessed the land
with rain, cows, forests, and orchards. Marduk told the
gods who had supported Tiamat that they had to work
the field and tend the cannels as a punishment the gods
complained of all the work they had to do the burnt
there spades and baskets for protest Marduk with an
eye of the future promised that if they agreed to
recognize Marduk for all time as the chief of all gods he
would release the and find others to do there work
that’s how humans were put on earth he created
humans to do work and worship gods at festivals
8. Chief of the god assembly of
gods
Impressed the gods awarded Murduk with
permanent position of first chief leader of the
assembly of all gods to this day Murduks
symbol is the saw toothed lightning dagger
that he holds on his belt his trusty weapon
that still helps keep order in the heavens.
