The Zylin ZPU is a lightweight 32-bit CPU core that is optimized for small real estate usage in FPGAs. It can be implemented in as few as 300-500 LUTs and provides 1-10 DMIPS of performance, suitable for light administrative tasks. The ZPU uses a standard GCC toolchain and works with the eCos real-time operating system. It aims to leave FPGA resources for other HDL designs while providing a standard programming model.
