2. To identify and assess the answers, we might need to think of
a typical live case scenario in any IT organization with the
following.
How to Evaluate cloud initiation ?
Let us assume a typical IT organization setup is given as in the
below chart.
Their business sponsors have proposed to cut the IT budgets
by transforming the current architecture into to a cloud setup,
which can save 60-80% of their current IT budget spending.
And year by year it can demonstrate further savings. This is the
Business assumption and also business case to convince the
management.
In the next slide you can see a live scenario.

3. How to Evaluate cloud initiation ?
Vendor’s identification evaluation:
Now let us think on the procedures of transforming to the
Cloud.
The following questions might come into our mind by taking
different stages of the ‘planning the transformation into cloud’.
Questions:
1. Can we identify the cloud service providers?
2. Can we compare the services among them?
3. Are they following IT governance?
4. Are they following ITIL processes?
5. How can they re-architect our applications setup?
6. Do they follow any standard methodologies?

4. Cloud provider evaluation stage ?
At this stage the following questions might arise:
Can we identify the gaps in technologies with cloud
and without cloud?
What is the additional infrastructure required while
moving into cloud?
What are the technical competencies required in the
current resources?
Once we have completed the above analysis and
selection process of different vendors, we might invite a
proposal on migrating the current setup into a cloud
based technology from all of the vendors.

5. What comments can be seen from
vendors ?
Please note many vendors say it is very easy to adopt into cloud
and there is no special training required.
For instance, I would like to pose the following questions:
1. Do you have the cloud architecture implementation
knowledge?
2. Do your resources can tackle the cloud environmental issues
well and understand them during transformation?
3. Do the vendor aware of the application’s protocols used by
you?
4. Does the vendor know on your SOA internals?
5. Do they know your databases and their security/privileges
process?
6. Can your resources convince your business users on the P1,
P2, P3, P4 issues with the cloud setup?

6. What is Resources skills
augmentation stage ?
Continued the Questions:
4. How many of them are contractors?
5. Do you have each resource wise cost?
6. Do you have the overall application wise resources cost?
7. Does the business proposed case contain the applications
cost, during cloud operation?
8. Did the business sponsor include the resources training cost?
9. What kind of trainings plan is required for the resources?
10. Do you need to train the cloud vendor resources on your
application’s setup and usage, etc.?
11.Did you plan for a staging environment from cloud vendor
during training?
There can be couple of questions you might need to include
depends on your internal setup and as per the cloud vendor
operations.
