PRINCE2 (2005) and PRINCE2 (2009) differ in several key ways. The 2009 manual condensed the previous 450 page manual to 325 pages to reduce repetition. It also updated some terminology, processes, and components to better align with current business practices and integrate with other guidance from the OGC. While the 2005 qualification is still valid, the 2009 version aims to make the guidance more flexible and acknowledge newer technologies and the soft aspects of project management. Students with 2005 training can easily adapt to 2009 in practice, and may need to take a one hour refresh exam to update after five years.
