FICCI has set up a task force chaired by Sudha Pillai to assist in the reconstruction and rehabilitation work in Uttarakhand following devastating floods. The task force will focus on affordable housing, clean drinking water, improved sanitation and other civic amenities through partnerships with science and technology institutes. FICCI recognizes contributions over Rs. 40 crore from member companies like SBI, ONGC, HSBC and others for relief operations, as well as infrastructure support from companies like Fortis and Bharti Enterprises. FICCI staff have also contributed a day's salary to support relief efforts.

FICCI Sets up Task Force to Assist in Reconstruction
and Rehabilitation Work in Uttarakhand
NEW DELHI, July 3, 2013. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce
and Industry (FICCI) has set up an industry Task Force chaired by Ms. Sudha
Pillai, former Member-Secretary, Planning Commission, Government of India,
to undertake reconstruction and rehabilitation of the flood-ravaged State of
Uttarakhand.
FICCI has strong networks in the state and the initiatives will focus on
affordable housing, provision of clean drinking water, improved sanitation and
other forms of civic amenities through its active partnership with various
Science & Technology institutes and R&D centres.
FICCI recognises with utmost gratitude the timely contribution by its member
companies for relief operations with contributions of over Rs. 40 crore from
organizations such as SBI, ONGC, HSBC, Xpro India Ltd, NTPC, Power Grid
Corporation Of India, Coal India Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra, Finolex Cables,
Pavers England, ICRA, Fair Exports, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and
infrastructure support provided by member companies like Fortis and Bharti
Enterprises Ltd.
FICCI staff has also contributed a day’s salary to support relief operations in
the state and provide succour to the people of the State.
