3. Introduction
•Hi,
•I’m a student
•I live in India
•I started this course because I am interested in
pursuing music artist as a career later in life
4. What is Acoustic Noise?
•Acoustic noise refers to the noise in the space or
the noise of the space.
•In this case it means unintended sound caused by
items in a room or the outside environment e.g.
airports, roads, humans, plant/animal life, motors
etc.
5. How to reduce acoustic noise.
•Close and move away from the windows and
curtains.
•Turn off noisy sources like fans, A/C, heating,
TV’s and other appliances.
•Create a small isolated space for the recording
area.
6. What is Electrical Noise?
•Electrical noise comes from any piece of gear you
might have in your studio.
•Electrical noise is the one that you need to avoid
the most as it can damage your equipment.
•Every piece of gear has something called “self-
noise” which can be found in the product’s manual.
7. How to reduce Electrical Noise?
•Use short cables as less interference can come
through.
•Use balanced cables such as TRS and XLR cables
to prevent interference coming through.
•Use as few pieces of gear as possible.
•Use high quality gear.
•Turn off phones, light dimmers and any other
appliances that you may think could cause
interference.
8. Avoid any unnecessary gain.
•Turn down the electrical level as little as possible.
•Move the microphone closer to the source instead
of increasing the gain as it will help to pick up the
sound you want instead of the sound of the room.
•Use a directional microphone as it will help isolate
the noise in the range of its polar pattern.
9. Conclusion
I hope this presentation gave you an idea on how to
reduce noise in your studio.
