Evaluation Question 2
1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBINATION OF YOUR
MAIN PRODUCTS AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
EVALUATION QUESTION 2
2. HOW DO THE POSTER, MAGAZINE AND TRAILER
LINK?
Setting – our products are
set in London and that is
shown in both poster and
trailer but not in my
magazine because I gained
inspiration from a cover on
Empire magazine and
wanted it to be based
around the main antagonist
Vlad.
Iconography – we incorporated the genre
conventions such as guns and suits to all 3 of our
products so the audience can tell they’re all from
the same film
Actors – one of the three main actors are always in
all products so the audience would be able to
recognise them and know what movie it relates to.
3. WHAT IS YOUR FILMS USP?
Location – although gangster films have the
convention of being set in urban cities, as
many follow the American gangster wave,
very few are filmed in England, specifically
London so we have decided to use this as
one of our unique selling points
Diverse cast – it’s very rare for a film with a
diverse cast to be marketed to the
mainstream as it’s it typically left to niche
films
4. WHAT MARKETING PACKAGE WOULD YOU USE?
When thinking about marketing, I specifically chose to present my poster in a portrait format
as it would be able to be displayed in a variety of setting (e.g bus stop, newspaper and tube
station posters) as opposed to landscape poster that could only really be displayed on the side
of a bus or a billboard poster. I decided to do this so I could create a full poster as opposed to
a teaser poster in order for the public to thoroughly take in the concept of my poster and be
emerged in the narrative I have created in order to entice them. Hypothetically if we were to
actually premiere our trailer, we would premiere it on YouTube as the internet and social
networking sites are quickly becoming the new place where audiences can find a watch new
films so we would take advantage of this platform.
