However, because of the generally high prices in many cities there is a significant proportion of the tourist community who never manage to visit. The costs of travel, accommodation and food mean those who are struggling to make ends meet will invariably hold onto their holiday euros and make tracks to cheaper places instead. But it doesn’t have to be this way, of course. If you’re planning a trip to Paris in the coming months,

Millions of tourists from all parts of the globe diverge on Europe’s most iconic capitals every year, and the popularity of
the short city break is showing no sign of decreasing. Thanks to a dramatic collection of historic buildings, instantly
recognisable monuments and eye-catching backdrops, these beautiful destinations continue to feature on the must-visit
lists of a huge range of travellers.
However, because of the generally high prices in many cities there is a significant proportion of the tourist community
who never manage to visit. The costs of travel, accommodation and food mean those who are struggling to make ends
meet will invariably hold onto their holiday euros and make tracks to cheaper places instead. But it doesn’t have to be
this way, of course. If you’re planning a trip to Paris in the coming months,
here are four tips to help you remain within budget -

Use the subway to get around
The centre of Paris is home to most of the landmarks you’ll want to see, and the best way to get from A to B in this
stunning destination is via the Metro. The city’s underground railway network is cheap, clean, safe (especially during
the day) and easy to negotiate. With sixteen separate lines and more than 300 stations, it’s network covers all
neighbourhoods, so you’ll be able to get from anywhere to anywhere in no time at all. And as an added bonus, the
2. stations are absolutely beautiful, thanks to their art nouveau design.
Eat where the locals eat
Food is so much more than simple sustenance in France. It’s an expression of individuality, a statement of character
and in many cases a national celebration. So if you’re tempted to head for a McDonalds in order to save money, don’t.
Even if a Big Mac is the cheapest option (and it often is), you can have that anywhere. When you’re in the centre of
Paris, you’ll struggle to find restaurants that offer cheap meals to those on a budget, but if you head to the suburbs
you’ll find plenty.

Take a sightseeing bus
There are so many famous landmarks in Paris, and even if you’re staying for several days you may not have enough
time to see them all. A good option is to buy a ticket for hop-on, hop-off sightseeing buses, because you can travel on
one at any time during the day to enjoy a tour of the city’s many charms. And because you can use the ticket over and
over again during the allocated time period, you can treat the buses as though they are part of the public transport
network.
Book a hotel beforehand
Many Parisian hotels have a set room rate that is generally pretty inflexible, so if you plan to arrive and then look for
accommodation you may be in for a rude awakening. If you book in advance, however, you should be able to find some
superb bargains on the web.
Like most major capitals, this city has hundreds of hotels for you to choose from, and at a wide range of prices, so be
sure to shop around online before committing to a booking.
