The document discusses different types of homes for various animals. It states that an anthill is a home for ants, a hive is a home for bees, a hole is a home for moles or mice, and a web is a home for spiders. It also mentions that birds build nests in trees and bugs can live snugly in rugs. The document asks questions about where different animals, such as mice, ants, bugs, and spiders, live.
This interactive slide show was designed for young, deaf/hard-of-hearing students as an introduction to the book, A House Is a House . I use it to teach vocabulary words to my youngest and most inexperienced language users, as well as to teach comprehension of the WH question form where to older students. My students enjoyed my pairing of Fred Penner’s song by the same name with the PowerPoint (available from iTunes). I have included notes on each slide to describe navigational structure and links, which should make it easy for you to use the video as an interactive tool with your students. Slides do not advance by simple mouse click. Instead, click on navigational icons to advance through the activity. Most graphics are Microsoft PowerPoint clip art. I have provided links to the ten Creative Commons-licensed photos that I obtained from Flickr. Ant icon links to next slide.
