Google Analytics - Annotations
Google Analytics does require some details. Using
annotations is a great way to keep tabs on why
certain events occur. Was there a public
announcement that caused a huge spike in traffic?
Did a slump coincide with a less-than-successful
email campaign? It’s important to remember that
annotations can help.
Google Analytics - Annotations
Annotations are notes that can be added to a Google
Analytics reporting graphs to explain the rise or fall in
traffic, make account managers aware of specific
campaigns that launched on a specific day, and just
about anything else you want to make note of directly
within Google Analytics.

Google Analytic
Annotations appear as a
speech bubble icon at
the bottom of an
analytics graph. In the
image below, you will
see the peaks in the
graph have their own
annotations.
Google Analytics - Annotations
Reading annotations is easy, just click on the downward
arrow tab icon beneath the graph. You’ll see a list of all
annotations made within the specified time period.
Annotations can be set to “Public” or “Private,” allowing
you to control who sees what. To create a new
annotation, simply click “Create new annotation” on the
right above existing annotation authors’ email addresses.
