The aim of this study was to try and establish the influence of the quota system of education in Kenya on national unity. The study’s target population was four thousand one hundred and seventy one (4171), and the sample of four hundred and thirty (432), who include three hundred and ninety one (391) learners and forty nine (49) lecturers from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa. The study employed a combination of descriptive survey and naturalistic design, employing both qualitative and quantitative approaches in research. The instruments of data collection were the questionnaire and interview guide to enhance comprehensive data collection. Statistical procedures were used to sort, analyze and summarize the data into frequencies and percentages. The qualitative data generated in the research was analyzed thematically. Analysis was done using Microsoft Word (a word processing program) and two statistical analysis software PSPP and R. From the research findings, on the quota system of education and its influence on national unity, the researcher was able to identify the following: teacher employment, student selection process and poverty as factors leading to minimal or lack of student / teacher interaction with other cultures and exposure to different environments giving rise to closed societies, closed cultures and teachers who are not globally exposed. These factors may give rise to a closed individual who might end up not being fully acculturated to different environments lacking the necessary skills to foster harmony in society.

The paper attempts to look at the current higher education crisis in South Africa in terms of the recent #FeesMustFall Campaign, embarked upon by higher education university students over the last several months and still continues unabated, in a country that seems to have lost its way. Civil unrest, strikes and protests in almost all sectors of the economy now permeates the political landscape of South Africa. This is an indictment to the democratic order, post 1994. As such, the paper will concentrate on the problems and challenges that confront South African higher education. It argues that education is a public good and therefore, a direct responsibility of government, given the heroic struggles of the masses from apartheid oppression and Bantustan education. Naturally, the paper argues further that, heirs of the revolutionary struggle are entitled to their rage. Tertiary education cannot remain limited to the few privileged in South Africa and, only radical action brings solutions. In other words student movements like it did, to challenge apartheid education, must be used to achieve the Freedom Charter’s vision. The Freedom Charter of the South African liberation struggle says that “the doors of learning must be open to all.†(The Freedom Charter, 1956). On the other hand there is just no money to fund higher education because of the rampant corruption, faltering action plans and as such, it appears that the higher education dream has been deferred. The most recent #FeesMustFall campaign brings to reality that after 21 years of democracy South African politicians of the ruling party can no longer rely on their revolutionary credentials because, the time has come to deliver real change. The mass student revolt of recent times has been unprecedented in the history of democratic South Africa. Amongst a host of other issues, this narrative will show that the students have sent a powerful message to the ruling party that has taken South African people for granted. Protesting students therefore, require the nation’s unreserved support. The paper will therefore attempt to talk to a host of issues as concerns higher education in South Africa.

The easiest way to destroy generations and a nation is through depriving the youth their education. Education is a basic human right not a privilege as is the current case in Zimbabwe. The government of Zimbabwe of July 2018 – 2023 has decided to hide under covid 19 to deprive the innocent children their education. Schools and universities were closed in March 2020 to minimise covid 19 transmission. Little did we know that this was the opportune time for this government to kill the Zimbabwean children intellectually. The education system that was in intensive care, on oxygen, had the oxygen tanks switched off, to the government’s celebration. Teachers and learners were dispatched home indefinitely. While there were celebrations in the corridors of power that we have tamed SARS CoV 2 Covid 19 through schools’ closure, other countries upon closing schools started planning on how they were going to make education accessible during the covid 19 pandemic. The government of Zimbabwe was honeymooning abusing donated covid 19 funds. Teachers’ salaries were equalling US 35 from US 520 in 2018. Indirectly it was destroying and devaluing the once admired education system. Some schools changed ownership, from being community schools to private entities at the detriment of the working class child whose parents survived on US1 per day. Bearing the brunt are the children of the marginalised because there is no school anymore. The teachers have no salary. The children of the government officials are enrolled in elite private schools in and outside the country. The children of most of the population whom they coerce to vote for them are deprived of education. They are killing them so that their own children and grandchildren will succeed them in future in those same government and political offices they occupy today. It is at the backdrop of these stated facts that I argue that the government of Zimbabwe 2018 2023’s agenda is to suffocate the public education system in Zimbabwe to perpetuate poverty, anarchy, cronyism, despotism, and demagoguery. Data was generated qualitatively informed by the theory of Ubuntu. This theory is fit for the study because this is about human relationships. Interviews with teachers and document analysis focusing on speeches by ZANU PF and MDC political parties were data generation tools. Data was processed coded and conclusions were made. The Mexican Education System is structured within the framework of different legal bodies. First of all, we may mention Sections 3 and 31 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States. The former, which dates from 1917 , states that “any individual has the right to education” , and that it is the State in its different forms (Federation, States, Federal District and Municipalities) which “will provide Pre-school, Primary, Secondary and Higher Education” . This means that the State is responsible for ensuring education and that said education must be secular, free, democratic and of quality and that it must contribute to the comprehensive development of individuals, favoring the Development of their skills and strengthening awareness on nationality and sovereignty.

The course of deeds and experience through which children grow to become an adult is known as curriculum, it encompasses the entire scope of formative deeds and experiences occurring in and out of school. Curriculum matters mainly because of its potential impacts on students. The fundamental purpose of curriculum development is to ensure that a student receives integrated, coherent learning experiences that contribute towards their personal, academic and professional learning and development.
