and Skills for Social Studies, High School. (19) Culture. The
student understands the history and relevance of major religious
and philosophical traditions. The student is expected to:(A)
compare the historical origins, central ideas, and the spread of
major religious and philosophical traditions including
Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, and
Judaism; and(B) identify examples of religious influence in
historic and contemporary world events (13) Government. The
student understands the characteristics of a variety of political
units. The student is expected to:(A) prepare maps that illustrate
a variety of political entities such as city maps showing precincts,
country maps showing states, or continental maps showing
countries; and(B) compare maps of voting patterns or political
boundaries to make inferences about the distribution of political
power.
