Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.x. running on Windows Operating Systems. In addition
we’re planning on an increased level of compatibility with Firefox 3.x and Safari 3.x
on non-Windows Operating Systems,” according to the SharePoint Team Blog.

o SharePoint 2010 will feature a “Web-enabled Ribbon control” and support greater
use of Silverlight controls
o CMIS support will allow interoperability between SharePoint 2010 and other
content management systems
o The architecture supposedly won’t change as it did between SharePoint Server
2003 to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, thus insuring less compatibility
issues and a smoother upgrade path (at least in theory)
o There’s a new feature, known as “faceted search” coming in the 2010 SharePoint
release. No details available yet.
o A new version of FAST Search for SharePoint will be made available at a lower
cost. Meanwhile, according to contractor and SharePoint blogger Lars Fastrup
(whose blog entry is the source of a lot of this post), “the SharePoint team have
scrapped their efforts to make the SharePoint search engine scale beyond 50
million documents in a single index. The argument will be to move to the FAST
search engine instead.”

No hay un acrónimo oficial y si pensamos en MSS, hay que descartarlo ya que se
usa para Microsoft Search Server.

9. ¿Por qué el cambio de nombre?
o SharePoint Server 2010 no lleva el término ‘Office’. ¿Va a continuar siendo parte
de Office System?
o SharePoint es y seguirá siendo el servidor de la familia Office.
El nombre cambia, para evitar las confusiones con los productos para cliente, de
Office.
En España, no se produce ésta confusión, ya que se han entendido perfectamente,
los conceptos de familia de productos Office (cliente y servidor), plataforma
SharePoint (servidor y servicios) y tecnología .NET
Lo más probable es que volvamos al acrónimo SPS 2010, similar al ya utilizado para
SPS 2003.

11. Requisitos del sistema
o SharePoint 2010 solo dispondrá de la versión de 64-bit.
Parece ser tendencia, que los clientes sean de 32 y 64-bit, mientras que los
servidores sean de 64-bit, así será necesario SQL Server 2005/2008 64-bit.
Mientras que deja de soportar SQL Server 2000 y SQL Server 2005 de 32-bit.
o Ya no soportará IE6, solo Internet Explorer 7+

12. Preparación para actualizar
o
o Lo más significativo, es que el SP2, introduce una nueva operación del comando
STSADM, preupgradecheck (Upgrade Checker) ideada para comprobar si la granja
actual, puede ser actualizada a la versión 2010.

13. General
o Se potencia igualmente los entornos “on-premise” y los “hosted” (alojados).
o La UI incorpora los controles “Web enabled Ribbon”, para mayor consistencia en la
apariencia con los clientes de Office.
o Un mayor número de controles Silverlight, enriquecen el servidor.
o Soporte para mapear listas con sus tablas en base de datos, ofreciendo mejor
rendimiento y escalabilidad en las grandes listas de SharePoint. (Anunciado en la
SharePoint 2008 Conference).
o Soporte CMIS que permite la interacción con otros sistemas de CMS y ECM.
o Mejora en la actualización, sin cambios fundamentales en la arquitectura, tal como
ocurrió del SPS 2003 al MOSS 2007.
o Mejoras en gestión de metadatos, documentos (vista preliminar), registros,
contenido web (soportará video streaming), colaboración, búsquedas (miniaturas
de documentos, ámbitos => featured content…)

14. Búsqueda
o Se incluirá OOTB la Faceted Search.
o FAST Search for SharePoint.
Consistente en una versión de
menor coste, de la herramienta.
o El equipo de SharePoint, ha
enfocado sus esfuerzos en conseguir
escalar hasta 50 millones de
documentos en un solo índice.
Pero en cualquier caso, la idea es
utilizar el motor de búsqueda FAST.

Durante la instalación del
SP2, se activa el tiempo de
expiración del producto.
Lo que significa que
SharePoint expirará como
si se tratase de una
instalación en pruebas de
180 días, después del
despliegue del SP2.
